Advanced DAX Training: Understand and Optimize Power BI Data Models.

DAX language was created specifically for the handling of data models, through the use of formulas and expressions. DAX is used in several Microsoft Products such as Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Analysis Services and Microsoft Power Pivot for Excel. These products all share the same internal engine, called Tabular/Vertipaq (xVelocity before).

With DAX we have the ability to include business logic in calculations in order to enrich our business intelligence models.

The course will take place in a classroom with no more than 15 students in order to maintain a good level of interactivity.

Pre-requisites

Before attending this course, it is recommended that students have a desire to learn more about DAX and prior exposure to the DAX calculations. 

Understanding of dimensional modelling and knowledge about any functional programming language is recommended too, but not necessary.

 

After this Course

By the end of this course, you will be able to understand the key functions in DAX, the different elements that can be created with DAX and the different context involve in it. You could perform a variety of query´s using DAX, debugging and optimizing it.

    Víctor M. García Sánchez
    BI architect and consultant focused in Microsoft technologies with a strong background in several areas such as banking, transportation and public administration. Among his skills can count system integration and data consolidation, data quality, data analysis, dashboards and scorecards development, corporate reporting. Always with the target of provide innovative solutions to customers.

    Besides, trying to share knowledge to community through SolidQ and personal blog, collaborating with TechNet performing webcast and speaking in events.

    Walter Putz
    Walter Putz, MCSA, MCSE Database Engine and MCT, is an SQL Server Architect with SolidQ. As Consultant and Trainer for T-SQL Programming, Administration and DWH/BI he works in the whole DACH region; amongst others for ONE, A1, Daimler or Raiffeisen. He delivers SQL Server trainings in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Dresden, Leipzig i.e. for Stadtwerke München, Ferrero, Carl Zeiss, Casinos Austria, Magna et. al.
    Brett Tomson
    Brett is Principal Architect, Managing Consultant and Mentor for multiple high visibility projects delivering a holistic view of critical business information and processes covering a variety of vertical markets.

    Brett is also Chapter Leader for the Triangle SQL Server User Group (TriPASS) and a published author of numerous articles and books

    Patrick Dubois
    Patrick is an experienced Data Specialist who has been guiding clients since 2001 in better understanding and working with their data. His project experiences have revolved around moving and integrating data into new environments, system/process redesigns, data and business rule validation, as well as full implementation of business intelligence solutions at both large and small clients. To that end, Patrick has worked with a variety of tools, but he specializes within the Microsoft BI Suite of Products (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI).
